For the culture common bateria procedure each of us chose to swab three different surfaces. The first swabbed her mouth, the next was the lab table, and the last was an armpit swab. We hypothesized that their would be a minimum of two colonies for each of the surfaces swabbed and this is what we found in our results:
Ashley's Table Swab
Colony: Punctiform
Elevation: Flat
Gram: Gram Negative
Surface: Smooth
Edge: Filamentous
Color: White
Joshua's Armpit Swab
Colony: Rhizoid
Gram: Gram Positive
Edge; Entire
Surface: Smooth, glistening
Elevation: Raised
Color: Beige
Kim's Mouth Swab
Colony: Circular
Edge: Entire
Color: White
Gram: Gram Positive
Color: Yellow
* This particular sample resulted in the finding of the genus Staphylococcus which is a spherical bacteria that occurs in microscopic clusters resembling grapes.
